Sacraments are the source of life for the Catholic community. At St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish, it is our goal to provide a meaningful and engaging sacramental life for our students, faculty and staff.
We celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in second grade. We recognize it as the celebration of God’s forgiveness through personal confession. Our children participate in this sacrament prior to their First Holy Communion. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to all our students on an individual basis, as well as during the Advent and Lenten Seasons.
Our Parish typically celebrates First Holy Communion the first weekend of May. Along with many activities geared toward preparation of this special day, our First Communion candidates participate in an all-day retreat. During the retreat day, the children engage in team building activities, workshops in church, and a special prayer service at the end of the day. It is a day that allows for continued reflection.
