Choir

St. Mary Star of the Sea Children's Choir is open to St. Mary’s students, religious education students, and parish members in grades 2-8.  Students practice once a week and sing approximately 2 masses per month.  The choir focuses on learning to view music as prayer.  Additionally students learn to read music and proper singing technique.

If your child is interested in learning more about St. Mary’s Children’s Choir, please call Ms. Giedre (Gia)  Sokas, Choir Director, at 773.767.1246.

Altar Servers

The Mass is the highest, most important form of prayer given to us by God and the Church. Our Altar Servers program is a parish ministry for Catholic boys and girls from St. Mary’s School and the Religious Education Program, grades 5 and up. They assist at Sunday morning and Saturday evening Masses, as well as all school Masses, Stations of the Cross & Benediction during Lent, weekend weddings and funerals.

Service Projects

Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of service projects throughout the year. Jesus’ life focused on serving others.  Using His example, we find numerous ways to help those in need.
